Easter- the good, the bad, the ED visit

So, Easter was a time of renewal for the Thornburg's this year. The children renewed their love of finding things in the yard, of "moneys" (bunnies), of candy and of baskets of crap! Nate renewed his love for all things that involve Elmo (melmo) Cookie Monster (Cookie) and Trains (choo-choo). He will momementarily stand still saying "hum" and holding his finger to his lips if he is unable to locate the proper attire which involves these characters.
Rob renewed his love affair with his bike, biking into work in the 60 degree weather, enjoying the sun and the outdoors on the canal bikepath. Unfortunately, on the way back, he was coming around a blind corner under an underpass and encountered someone coming the wrong way around the blind corner, and the choices to awoid her were limited between the grate drain in the ground and the cement wall. Although they almost missed eachother, she swerved at the last minute, locking their handlebars and throwing Rob from the bike. He had a bunch of road rash and a cut on his knee, which although not large, was pretty deep, and unfortunately was an open arthorotomy which required him to go the operating room and have a knee washout. Fortunately this could be done arthroscopically. Unfortunately, he did have to stay in the hospital until Sunday night for observation and antibiotics. So, we didn't get home until 4-5 pm on Sunday night. He was pretty nausious, and felt yucky, but is starting to rally and feel better today.

Here are some pictures of the Easter holiday (from my mom). You will notice that Nate refused to remove his cookie monster PJ's, and is rocking some AWSOME sunglasses. You will also notice that despite the fact that it is 80 degrees he is wearing a coat and hat, and really wanted to wear mittens but we talked him out of that.
