Julianna is 3!!!

Julianna is now 3!!!

The bad news is...she has no idea how many she is and is only vaguely clear on number concepts. So, she alternates between telling us she is "3 months" and "4 years". And, she insisted on having 4 candles on her birthday cake. So, 100 years from now, everyone will think that these pictures are of her 4th birthday.

As you can see, Julianna also made and decorated her own cake. Inside the layers are white cake with chocolate mini-chips. Each layer needed it's own "color" so inside the layers are red/pink and blue/purple in color. The frosting is yellow, so the whole cake is kinda a "superman" type thing. If we had found superman icecream it would have been all set. The decorations are red...Julianna put them on in a very modern way...almost Pollock in their very careful placement of randomness.

Julianna got alot of great presents for her birthday. She got some Melissa and Doug stuff...a pizza party and a birthday cake one. She also got a tutu outfit for dance class from Grandma Lynda. She got a Barbie doll, but has surprisingly quickly lost interest. She got a toy horse that you can comb and feed and a cat carrier with all the grooming/care tools for the kitty, both of which were big hits (these were re-gifts from people at work who's kids were done with them). Suzanne gave her "Purplelicious", a delightful book about purple vs. pink, and how she delights in saying, "momma, pink is passe. Passe is french for "over."" It is so cute...but also a view of the future when she is 15!!

Julianna blowing out her candles. Yes, I am aware that she has 4 candles..she insisted on using ALL the pink ones.

Julianna decorates her cake.

In other exciting news...only 5 days until Rob and I leave for Scotland. Nate is going to be my little dare devil...he climbed out of his crib on Friday and threw himself on the ground. He is ok, but has an abrasion on his forehead...this is ideal since we are going to the pediatrician on Thursday, so you like to make sure that you bring them in looking the worst possible. Also, it is ideal that we will have to explain that Nate had another fall (he also fell of the couch at a few days old)..so I am feeling like the ideal mother. He is also starting to get really good at commando crawling around the floor, so you really have to watch him...or he will be all over. Right now he is playing with an empty jar (another good reason to get him toys)
