Baby and me

I am pleased to annouce that there is a new baby in the household. Baby the plastic doll in purple clothes (see above). Baby is the very beloved doll my daughter's that must go everywhere. Baby is the only accessory that goes with every outfit. She is timelss.

Baby is the dirtiest, most abused baby doll on the planet, given the number of time that she has been dragged along behind on the ground and taken on hair-raising (if she had any) ride in the stroller of death without even a seatbelt. But, in good new millenium mothering my daughter practices attachment parenting with baby and engages in co-sleeping every night. A few nights ago she put baby down in the crib next to her and actually patted her back and said "Nite-Nite Baby". It was ridiculous.

Baby also has many friends. All also referred to as baby, although there is only one "BABY". (It is kind surreal, alot like that movie Heather's). Often the entire lot of them: Baby, cabbage patch baby, hard plastic baby that used to belong to mommy, and pink doggie (known as "doggie) need to go for a ride altogether in the wagon. It is quite ridiculous. I will try to get a picture for posting. Also, there are small chairs in the basement that JC insists on setting up all in a row and lining up the babies for a good afternoon of "sitting". Of course Mama must sit too, exactly in the seat where I am directed. Good times.

Last friday JC insisted on bring Baby on the ride to daycare, and me, fearing that she would become lost and result in the longest weekend ever when Baby could not be located didn't allow her to take the baby into daycare, but wanted her to be left in the car. As you well imagine, at first there were tears. Then, JC insisted on (I am not making this up) STRAPPING HER INTO THE CARSEAT!!

I am glad the lessons of "safety first" are finally sinking in.

Jules and her Baby are practically fused at the hip. She even feeds it and gives it milk. She also has a kitchen and pretends to cook in it for Baby. She is quite motherly with her Baby. She is also very interested in our friends baby, Maggie.
